Family History: Gerald’s mother was a Rwandese refuge who came to look for petty jobs in Uganda. She got pregnant with Gerald during that time. His father is not known bc his mother did not share his identity. When Gerald was weaned, his mother left the boy with the family she was working for and never returned. They think she returned to Rwanda. Josephine has raised him until now but is growing old and cannot farm as she used to.
