Family History:
Mary was brought to her maternal great-grandmother, Batungwa, in 2018 because her grandmother had died and her mum, Agatha, separated with her father, Alex. Agatha did not have anywhere to put their children, nor did she have means of providing for their needs. So, Agatha left her children, remarried and started a new family which neither Mary nor her brother are considered part of. Mary’s father, Alex, also has another family and he does not take any responsibility of providing for Mary either. Mary’s one brother in S.4 is living with other relatives. Batungwa is 99 years old and too old to work and provide food or tuition needs for Mary.
