Research from University of San Francisco economist Bruce Wydick and others confirmed the overwhelmingly positive impact child sponsorship has long term. The data showed significant improvements in education, employment, development and leadership qualities of those sponsored as children over those who were not sponsored. “As a development economist, I am used to seeing very modest outcomes from aid programs," said Wydick, "but we were amazed at the size of the impacts on these kids.”
The findings suggested that “the patient nurturing of self-worth, self-expectations, dreams, and aspirations may be a critical part of helping children escape poverty.” Further, the study concluded that “the key to ending poverty resides in the capacity of human beings—and their view of their own capacity—to facilitate positive change.” Hope matters enormously, and this is a gift you can offer in a child’s life.
This is a beautiful thing ordinary people can do to bring HOPE and a bright future to children trapped in poverty! Ready to change the world?
Mountain Children’s Ministry seeks to offer hope and a future to vulnerable children and families, sharing the love of God in the mountainous Kabale region of Uganda. We achieve this through a monthly sponsorship program which keeps orphaned and destitute children with their guardians in a nuclear family environment rather than institutionalizing them. We also conduct community development projects to help build self-sustainability initiatives such as clean water wells, solar power, and farming.
